The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero tells Yahoo a character fans thought might have been dead might return to the show for episode 802, “The Damned.”

During an interview with Yahoo after last Sunday’s season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead, SFX wizard, producer and director, Greg Nicotero said episode 802, “The Damned” is going to be exciting, and he hinted that a long-thought-dead character could return.

So who is he talking about? First, the quote:

"Two is fantastic. It’s a direct continuation of the war and the attack on the satellite [outpost], which is exciting. And it’s possible that there may be a character that we may have thought was dead pop up. Who knows?"

In the preview for this week’s all-new episode, Rick and Daryl are seen moving through a building, while Morgan and Tara plan an attack on a Savior’s outpost.

When thinking about a recent character who has been missing since last season, one immediately thinks of Heath. When last we saw him, Heath and Tara were attempting to escape a walker trap set by the members of the Oceanside community.

The question regarding Heath is, where has he been this whole time? And, would the show bring back a character whose death can be explained? Absolutely, yes. In the world of The Walking Dead, if you don’t see a body (or a walking body), if you don’t see a character die, then they are not dead.

But, who else could it be?

Rumors are circulating that Morales — a character that willingly split with Rick and the original Atlanta group in season 1 — could make his mysterious return in “The Damned.” The source of this rumor comes from the closed Facebook group, The Spoiling Dead Fans, who usually…well, always get their filming rumors right.
