Netflix is already planning a House of Cards spinoff
House of Cards might be done, in light of the Kevin Spacey accusation, but Netflix is already planning a spinoff.
It’s been a rough week for Netflix and one of its powerhouse shows, House of Cards. On Sunday night, actor Anthony Rapp took to Twitter to accuse actor Kevin Spacey (Frank Underwood) of unwanted sexual advances from an even that took place more that 30 years ago.
On Monday, Netflix announced that season 6 of the show would be its last, and on Tuesday, October 31, both Netflix and MRC released a joint statement stating production on House of Cards season 6 had been haled indefinitely.

Variety is now reporting that all may not be lost, when it comes to House of Cards, with at least one idea revolving around Frank Underwood’s longtime right-hand-man, Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), and Eric Roth as the writer.
"At least two other spinoff ideas are also being explored, though writers have not yet been attached to all of them. All the potential series take place in the same universe as “House of Cards.”"
According to Variety, the only thing standing in the way of Netflix moving forward with a House of Cards spinoff is the uncertainty surrounding season 6. There still has been no official word regarding any repercussions for Spacey, but if Netflix and MRC are dragging their feet with the show, it’s a safe bet it won’t be back. At all.

It’s a smart move on Netflix’s part, to try and develop multiple spinoff ideas, as HoC basically put the streaming service on the map, and a spinoff featuring a favorite character would certainly have loads of potential.
