When it comes to the WWE and Hollywood, there are a few success stories.

However, movies and TV shows are also littered with failed attempts to make it out of the squared circle. Now, there is news that a former WWE superstar almost latched onto a role on The Walking Dead, one that would have drastically changed a very popular character.

The wrestler is Matt Morgan, and the role was that of Abraham.

Morgan, who wrestled in the WWE and TNA Impact Wrestling before retiring, appeared on the WINC Podcast and said that he was all but assured of the role. Morgan said he auditioned for the role of Abraham and he claims The Walking Dead producers told him that the role was his. He started memorizing the scripts but then got a call saying they were moving in a different direction for the character.

Humorously, Morgan then said that he was “bitchy about it” and refused to watch the show since he didn’t get the part.

Instead, Michael Cudlitz took on the role of Abraham and ran away with the part, far eclipsing the character from the comic book pages. Cudlitz had a sarcastic sense of humor that went well with his character’s emotional arc, and he became one of the most enjoyable characters on the show until his tragic death on the Season 7 premiere.

On the other hand, Matt Morgan is a 7-foot former professional wrestler who has never shown in his wrestling days the ability to deliver the sarcastic wit that fans loved about Abraham. Whether or not Morgan can become the next Batista or John Cena in Hollywood is unknown, but fans of The Walking Dead never missed out thanks to Michael Cudlitz.
