Will DC Comics’ ‘Titans’ TV Series Feature Robin’s Origin Story?

The flood of comic book creations coming to television is continuing with Titans.

With Gotham still rolling on, it looks like another DC Comics series that has its basis in the Batman-family will be coming to television as well. The series is Titans and will focus on the popular Teen Titans group that is led by none other than the former Robin – Dick Grayson.

The series will look to possibly head back to the origins of the team instead of picking up where the current animated movies have led, with Bruce Wayne’s son Damien as the Robin in a group led by Starfire. In these films, Dick Grayson has already moved on to the role of Nightwing.

However, Omega Underground reported that the Titans television series auditioned Tim Campbell to portray the role of Ben Crossland. Interestingly, the previous casting calls referred to Dick Grayson by the name “John Crossland,” so there are some thoughts that Ben is the father of Dick, meaning that Titans could feature the Flying Graysons, Dick’s circus trapeze parents.

Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean) signed on to play Dick Grayson, and The Hollywood Reporter initially reported that the Titans TV series would show how Robin moved on from being a sidekick into becoming a leader and developing a family of his own.

With that in mind, it seems only right to believe that the Flying Graysons will either appear in flashback scenes or possibly as an introductory scene for the Titans TV show. There is also no official word on whether he will be Robin or Nightwing in the series as he has only been identified as Dick Grayson (and John Crossland).

Other characters cast include the alien princess Starfire (Anna Diop) and the part-demon Raven (Teagan Croft). It looks like the characters of Beast Boy and Cyborg will be replaced by the lesser-known DC Comics characters Hawk and Dove.
