Inhumans Recap: “The Gentleman’s Name Is Gorgon”
“The Gentleman’s Name Is Gorgon,” hints heavily at a the titular character’s death by just naming the episode after him.
Gorgon is a new character created for Inhumans which makes him the most expendable without ever losing any of the core players from the comics. Unfortunately, his death does nothing other than make the Royal Family continue to grieve while Karnak still is powerless.
Whoever wrote the show thinking that de-powering Karnak, Medusa, and to an extent Maximus, would make things more interesting, was incredibly wrong. What’s the point of using these characters if none of them can do anything? Needless to say, “The Gentleman’s Name Is Gorgon,” isn’t the strong episode that would show ABC that Inhumans has the potential of a better Season Two.
On Earth, Auran sends Medusa a threatening message in hopes of getting the Royal Family to return to the lab they escaped. She could care less about going but Black Bolt’s friends are being held hostage so she sends Gorgon and Karnak to their rescue. The two frenemies devise a plan that goes almost perfectly: Karnak pretends to still have his powers so he can take out the guards one by one.
He manages to grab everyone, including Mortis who he tricks by playing on his emotions. Gorgon takes out Auran but Mortis wakes up in time to level the place because he doesn’t want to be imprisoned again. “The Gentleman’s Name Is Gorgon,” ends with Karnak tearfully holding onto a deceased Gorgon who was killed by the blast.
While they’re off fighting, the Royal couple and Louise hit the road looking for Crystal. The young princess has an idea early into “The Gentleman’s Name Is Gorgon,” to streak the sky with enough lightning to draw her sister’s attention. In an unintentionally funny scene, her massive lightning is in the background while Black Bolt and Medusa chat about finding her.
The three manage to find Crystal just as Dave works up the courage to kiss her for one awkward family reunion. They make their way back to the lab to hold a quickie memorial for Gorgon before heading back to Dave’s to get Lockjaw. However, his ex-girlfriend has alerted the police which leaves poor Dave and Louise behind to deal with the authorities as their new friends returned to the moon.

Honestly, it was a bit shocking that Crystal didn’t opt to stay behind but then again she could never willingly leave Lockjaw behind.
On Attilan, Maximus is having nightmares about what his family will do to him upon their return. He enlists Bronaja to once again tell the future, and Maximus is able to reason that Tibor has joined an alliance with rebels who wish to kill him. Slitting his top aide’s throat in front of the boy, he gets Bronaja to swear allegiance thus making him his personal slave.
Of course, in “The Gentleman’s Name Is Gorgon,” Medusa and Black Bolt argue over what should happen to Maximus with the former lobbying for mercy. If the show is, by some miracle, picked up for a second season, then it’s doubtful that ABC would want to get rid of the only actor adding any depth to his performance despite the poor scripts.
There’s only two episodes left of Inhumans, and the series seems to be chugging to the finish line. “The Gentleman’s Name is Gorgon,” isn’t a good enough outing to make any arguments for the show at this point.

If they don’t nail the finale, then it’s doubtful that ABC will want to take a risk on another season. At this point, it’s time to shelf the Inhuman characters until someone can write them a story they deserve.
