The Walking Dead could be around much longer than you think
If you are a fan of The Walking Dead then we’ve got some fantastic news for you.
The Walking Dead has been steadily sliding in the ratings since season 7, but that downward trend doesn’t scare the execs at AMC, apparently, as Deadline is reporting that during a recent conference call with Wall Street, AMC CEO Josh Sapan did nothing but sing the show’s praises.
During the call, in which Sapan talked about AMC’s strong third quarter numbers, the CEO used a heavy dose of hyperbole, we hope, to describe the future of The Walking Dead.

"The use of the word ‘franchise,’ we don’t take lightly. It’s not a sloppy or casual word. We’ve studied the best. Some have been around 30, 40, 50 years. We have a chance for a lot of life in the franchise."
Oh God, just saying that The Walking Dead could be on television for 30, 40, or 50 years is simply terrifying. I enjoy the show as much as the next person, but let’s not get too carried away with ourselves. Just look at HBO and Game of Thrones, in order to see how it’s done correctly.
Game of Thrones has seen seven extremely successful seasons, and is about to end the series in its upcoming eighth season. Each season has been better than the first, and when the series ends in 2019 at some point, there won’t be room for fatigue from the show — a current debacle The Walking Dead is suffering from.
