The Walking Dead mid-season finale will be 88 minutes long

It looks like AMC has one heck of a mid-season-finale planned for The Walking Dead season 8, as the episode will be longer than usual.

It may not feel like it, but when The Walking Dead airs this Sunday night, with episode 804, “Some Guy,” it will mark the halfway point through season 8-A. As per usual, each season of The Walking Dead is 16 episodes in length, which are broken up into two eight episode halves.

The first half (A) premieres in October and usually ends sometime before the holiday season in December. The second half (B) usually starts the second Sunday in February and runs through March and the first week of May.

Recently, Reddit user hjk410 discovered the mid-season finale for season 8, will be a super-sized episode, of sorts.

This listing shows the episode starting at 8 PM in its usual time slot, and ending at 9:28 PM. That means The Walking Dead season 8 mid-season finale will run for 88-minutes.

Often, showrunner Scott Gimple and AMC likes to leave The Walking Dead fans wanting more, by ending the mid-season finale with a cliffhanger or some sort of big resolution to a problem our favorite survivors have had to overcome in the first half of the season.

However, season 8 is completely different, as it has been Rick and his combined army taking All Out War to Negan and his Saviors. So, a super-sized episode would be the perfect way to leave fans wanting more, if say, a beloved character seemingly met their end as the screen fades to black.

And, since Negan has barely been in season 8 (making a brief appearance in the premiere) it might be the perfect time for the bad guy to do something truly heinous, giving fans nearly two months to stew over his actions.
