Carl Makes a Friend

Remember that guy that asked Carl for help and some food that Rick scared off by shooting at him? Well, Carl decided to find that guy again and set out looking for him. What he found was a Walker trap. The guy he was looking for snared a Walker and then killed it. That is when Carl showed himself and offered some food and water.

Carl asked the three questions – “how many Walkers have you killed?’ “How many people have you killed?” and Why?” The dude’s name is Siddiq, he has killed over 200 Walkers but only one regular person – and it was a show of mercy. When Carl asks why he kills Walkers with traps, he said his mom told him it would release their souls and he had to honor his mom.

The answers were good enough for Carl, and he decided to take Siddiq back to Alexandria. On the way, they are attacked by six Walkers and struggle but kill them all.

When Siddiq asks why Carl is bringing him to Alexandria when his father already rejected the idea, Carl said sometimes it is a child’s job to show their parents the way.

Rick and the Scavengers

Last week, Rick said he was going to get some help. Even after the Scavengers betrayed Rick last season and helped Negan, and even after Jadis shot Rick (“you just grazed me”), he thought he could convince them to join their side against the Saviors when he showed them Polaroids of their handiwork in destroying the Sanctuary.

However, Rick made the wrong move. He said they could join them in the fight or his people would destroy them. Because Rick chose to make a threat, the Scavengers were not impressed. Jadis said no, said Rick talked too much, and then had Rick stripped naked and locked in a canister.

Carol and the King

Meanwhile, Carol was at the Kingdom and wanted to talk to Ezekiel. However, Jerry said that Ezekiel is not taking visitors. Carol tries to shout through the door, but she gets no response and storms off. One child from The Kingdom whose brother died in the ambush follows her.

When the child convinces her that he has to fight to avenge the death of his brother, Carol returns to The Kingdom. She parks the kid with Jerry and then goes in to talk to Ezekiel.

Ezekiel tells her that he can’t be king anymore. She asks why he came to see her before and he said he wanted to make sure she was ok. When she demanded the truth, he said that she was the only person to make him feel real and not fiction.

That is when Carol told him that the people of The Kingdom needed him to be their King. He needed to mourn with them, help end this, and then help them rebuild again. It was a good argument, but Ezekiel simply said: “I can’t.”

Maggie and the Prisoners

At The Hilltop. Maggie and Jesus were still trying to figure out what to do with the prisoners. While Jesus is entirely against a large-scale mass murder, Maggie is unsure since she needs to protect her people.

When Gregory sits in Maggie’s office and talks to her, she finally makes a decision. Gregory tells Maggie that wolves can’t be allowed to run with the sheep. After hearing that, Maggie tells Jesus to bring in the Saviors and locks them in a cage. She then orders Gregory to be jailed with them, saying he is the wolf. Gregory fights, but ends up with a head injury and is put in there anyway, where he lies in a fetal position.

After making this decision, Maggie meets with Aaron, who showed up with the baby Rick found, and Enid. Aaron talks about how much he misses Eric, and Maggie says she understands as she lost Glenn as well. When Jesus comes in, he thanks Maggie for not killing everyone but then she admits she left them alive because they might need to trade them for their own prisoners but she wants to kill them all when the war ends.

Aaron then leaves the room and decides he wants to leave The Hilltop after listening to Maggie’s statement. When Aaron tells Enid he needs to help finish this, she asks to come along, and he agrees.

Heading to the Sanctuary

Aaron isn’t the only person who wants to end things. Daryl arrives back and meets up with Tara. She tells him that not killing Dwight was smart since he has helped them so much, but she plans to kill him herself when the war ends. Daryl said they could do it together and they decide to go to the Sanctuary and blow open the doors, sending in the Walkers to kill everyone inside, including the workers and their children.

At the same time, Michonne wants to see the Sanctuary because she can’t get her mind wrapped around the fact they are winning. Rosita agrees to come along. However, on the way, they hear loud sounds and realize it is Saviors who are trying to lure the Walkers away from the Sanctuary.

Michonne and Rosita sneak in and see there are two there – Leo and Zia. However, they are caught, and a fight breaks out. Michonne starts to fight Zia, but she is overwhelmed because of her previous injuries. Leo tries to escape, but Rosita is standing in his way with a freaking bazooka.

He mocks her and says she won’t shoot him, and she does, blowing him to pieces in the best kill of the season so far. The explosion distracts Zia and Michonne, and Zia escapes to the truck and takes off. However, just as she races out of the garage with the speakers blaring, a truck comes from out of nowhere and smashes into it. Daryl and Tara get out, put a bullet in Zia’s head and then offer to take Michonne and Rosita to the Sanctuary to see the onslaught.
