How will Morgan connect with ‘Fear the Walking Dead’?
By Shawn Lealos
Last Sunday, Talking Dead announced that there would be a crossover character that would connect The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead.
Most people had assumed that Abraham would end up as the character, seeing as how he was from Texas and season four of Fear the Walking Dead will cross back over the border and take place in Houston. However, it turns out that it is Morgan that will appear on the show instead, which is puzzling.
Lennie James said in a video interview that his story from Walking Dead was setting Morgan up for this move, a statement that raises a lot of questions.
The problems with Morgan going to Fear the Walking Dead
There are two significant problems with Morgan going from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead. The first concerns if they keep the timelines the way they are. The second is if they do a jump forward in time from season three of Fear the Walking Dead.
First, the most significant problem with having Morgan appear in Fear the Walking Dead during its timeline involves him getting to Texas. When Rick left Morgan in season one, he was in Atlanta. He then next appeared in season three, and that was a total of about eight months where he was MIA.
In that case, the most prominent question is how did Morgan get from Atlanta to Texas and then back to Virginia – and why would he even have returned after getting to Texas? That is a story that could be told on Fear the Walking Dead, but that ruins the suspense because we know he got back.
Plus, do we want to see crazy Morgan – the guy who lost his son and went off the deep end – for his entire stay in Fear?
The second problem is the fast forward. If the show jumps ahead in time on Fear the Walking Dead, they will have to move a very long time since that show started before the main series timeline started. With season three ending in a monster cliffhanger (did anyone but Madison live?), that would be a problematic time jump for fans to accept.
Plus, that would mean that Morgan will live through this season of The Walking Dead and the All-Out War – and maybe even leave before the war concludes.
Those are both challenges in storytelling.
Is Fear the Walking Dead hiding something?
The fun is in the speculation. Forget about Morgan going to Fear the Walking Dead for a moment. Could it be that Morgan is just a red herring for the real surprise? Fans thought it was Abraham – could he be the real character showing up if the show stays in the past?

Plus, could Fear the Walking Dead do what The Walking Dead has practiced and flip between past and present?
With that question asked – what if this is a flash forward. Could Fear the Walking Dead catch up with The Walking Dead in time and somehow connect the two stories? Remember, after the All-Out War with Negan ends; the next storyline involves The Whisperers.
Could Madison be Alpha – the leader of The Whisperers?
What if Morgan did go to Texas in those eight months and had a rocky relationship with Madison and whoever survived that explosion in the season three finale? Morgan could then live in The Walking Dead, we would see him meeting Madison, and then be one of the key players when she shows up in The Walking Dead as one of the most sadistic villains in the show’s history.

The chances of that happening are minimal, but its fun to speculate.
