HBO’s Westworld has had to postpone production of season 2 due to the wildfires in Southern California.

On Tuesday morning, even more wildfires broke out in Southern California. This time, the fires have spread to affect TV and film productions in the area. Case in point, HBO’s hit show, Westworld, which is supposed to return for season 2 in 2018, has had to stop all production, in order to evacuate the area.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Westworld was currently filming in the Santa Clarita area, when a 200-acre brush fire broke out. HBO then released a statement.

"Due to nearby wildfires, Westworld stopped production earlier today and will resume filming as soon as it’s safe to do so."

The fire was first reported as a five-acre fire but apparently grew to cover 200 acres. It started at 10 AM on Tuesday morning somewhere north of the San Fernando Valley.

Westworld is set to return to HBO for its second season in the spring of 2018, so there has been no word how this fire will affect that date. Co-creator of the show, Jonathan Nolan did have this to say about season 2.

"If the first season was defined by control, the second season is defined by chaos, That’s part of what we come to understand Ford has been planning all along."

Nolan also talked about Ford’s plan continuing into season 2, although Anthony Hopkins has not yet been confirmed to return, but questions of the Hosts being led by Dolores escaping the park will be a big part of the new season.
