The 75th annual Golden Globes on Sunday night (Jan. 7) was a good night for HBO’s breakout hit of 2017 — Big Little Lies. In fact, the four awards garnered by the show was the most of any network or platform, for the night. Big Little Lies was created by David E. Kelly for HBO and was based on the novel by Liane Moriarty. Although originally billed as a limited series, the show has received orders for a second season from HBO and follows Shailene Woodley as Jane Chapman, a troubled single mother who moves to Monterey, California, where she is quickly befriended by Reese Witherspoon as Madeline Martha Mackenzie and Nicole Kidman as Celeste Wright.

However, after the first day of school, Jane’s son is wrongfully accused of harming a fellow student, and from there, the mystery and drama that unfolds are a masterful telling in suspense. We’re extremely glad HBO is moving forward with a season 2.
