The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2 Trailer and Premiere Date
By Ariba Bhuvad
Blessed be the fruit! The Handmaid’s Tale is all geared up for season 2 with a sneak peek at an all-new trailer.
Following the release of season 1 of The Handmaid’s Tale last year, the show has since then gained numerous accolades and critical acclaim. As we’ve all come to know, its story is based on a dystopian future in which women are divided into a caste system, some forced to be “Handmaids” responsible for bearing children.
While season 1 was based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, the second season will look to create new stories for Offred (Elisabeth Moss) and the ladies of Gilead, including the return of Ofglen (Alexis Bledel).

- Goosebumps season 1, episode 6 recap: “Night of the Living Dummy”
- Beacon 23 season 1, episode 3 recap: “Why Can’t We Go on as Three?”
- Upload season 3, episode 2 recap: “Strawberry”
Last season left us with the reveal of Offred’s real name, June, and a cliffhanger as to where she was being sent to. Does her future hold brutal punishment or a chance to escape to freedom? Only time will tell the outcome of Offred’s fate.
As is apparent in the new trailer, Season 2 will bring on more anxiety-inducing, WTF moments courtesy of the writers and Margaret Atwood, who will continue to be a big part of the show moving forward. As the trailer indicates, we will see more of Samira Wiley’s Moira in Canada and even got a glimpse of Janine (Madeline Brewer), wandering a desert–one we have not seen yet, but can only assume is in the Colonies.
Perhaps the eeriest thing about The Handmaid’s Tale is the release of its second season amongst the increased awareness of sexual assault in Hollywood. Will more parallels be seen between our reality and the world of Gilead? Let’s just say, we’re totally expecting it.
