Amazon once again pulled out all the stops for its 2018 Super Bowl commercial when they brought in a number of huge special guests for a “what if” situation. The basis of the ad was “what if Alexa loses her voice?” Who would replace her in the popular Amazon device?

The commercial started with Alexa losing her voice while delivering the news while a woman is brushing her teeth. The ad then cuts to Amazon headquarters where CEO Jeff Bezos asked what they should do about it. An employee said they have a backup plan but seemed less than sure that it would work.

That is because numerous celebrities were brought in to answer customer questions on Alexa instead of the popular AI voice. It started with a guy asking for a grilled cheese sandwich recipe only for celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey to insult him for even thinking he needed help making grilled cheese at the age of 32.

Up next was a kid asking how far Mars is from Earth while working on what looks like homework. Rap star Cardi B then makes fun of him for wanting to go to Mars because there isn’t even oxygen there.

When a guy is having a party, he asks Alexa to set the mood and it is Rebel Wilson who lowers the lights and then starts talking dirty to the people in attendance until they beg Alexa to reset. After this, a guy asks Alexa to play country music and Cardi B starts rapping. When the guy asks again for country, it pauses and then Cardi B starts rapping again.

This Super Bowl commercial saved the best for last when a woman asked Alexa to call Brandon but then Anthony Hopkins said that Brandon was “a little tied up.” Hopkins was in full Hannibal Lector mode, feeding birds while asking Jessica by name if he could help her with anything.
