NBC releases a promo for Timeless season 2 during the Olympics

Thanks to a passionate fan campaign, Timeless will be returning to NBC in March for its second season.

While the network has stayed pretty quiet on what viewers can expect from the drama, they did release the first promo during the Olympics last night. Despite only being fifteen seconds long, the short clip packs a lot of information about the show’s sophomore run.

The most notable snippets the promo drops are four of the dates that the time team will be traveling to. Timeless season two will only consist of ten episodes, and it’s a little shocking that the show would confirm so many of the eras they’ll be traveling back to. 1918 will presumably be in the premiere, where the group goes back to World War I, but eagle-eyed viewers will notice the inclusion of other years such as 1955, 1941, and 1692.

World War I is most likely not the only battle that the time team will find themselves a part of. World War II was also escalating in 1941 with the attack on Pearl Harbor standing out as one of the most notable events in history. This wouldn’t be the first time the group finds themselves in this war either, in season one they found themselves working alongside Ian Fleming. However, that trip took place in 1944, so it’s unlikely the team will get to reunite with an infamous James Bond author much to Wyatt’s disappointment.

More from Show Snob

Timeless has never shied away from showing some of the unsavory parts of history such as sexism and racism. The creators teased at Comic-Con that the show was interested in doing an episode with Martin Luther King Jr., so the inclusion of 1955 seems to hint that they got their wish. Malcolm Barrett gave multiple standout performances in the first season where he admonished racist police officers and even the team itself for not understanding how painful it is to deal with discrimination. In the second episode of the series he begs Lucy to let him save Abraham Lincoln from assassination, and if the team is traveling back to 1955 to meet young Dr. King, then he will probably try to prevent his death as well.

It looks like Lucy might be running into some trouble during their adventures as well. Not including the family affair taking place in 1918, the time team has to travel back to 1692, most notably the year when the Salem Witch Trials started. With all of the mystery still surrounding Rittenhouse, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the group have some hand in the burning of women. Of course, the team jumping into this period in their ship will probably lead to a bit of trouble for Lucy.

While Agent Christopher and Jiya are notably absent from the promo, Timeless does offer a few other clues for fans. The biggest jaw-dropping moment is a kiss shared between Lucy and Wyatt, something that fans have been gunning for since the Bonnie and Clyde episode. Another pivotal moment is the time team running away from explosions. Interestingly, they’re joined by Garcia Flynn.

Last year, the group left Flynn imprisoned for his many crimes which reneged on the promise Lucy made to help him save his family. How exactly did they manage to convince him to rejoin their fight? Fans will have to tune in to the Timeless season 2 premiere on March 11 on NBC to find out what has happened since that cliffhanger finale.
