‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8: HBO series may tie up these loose ends before ending series

Whether we like it or not, ‘Game of Thrones’ is coming to an end after Season 8 and there’s a lot of ground to cover first.

With the White Walkers descending on Westeros, the end of Game of Thrones is coming. Season 8 will be the last for the popular HBO series and all will play out when the show returns at some point in the next two years.

As fans wait for their favorite series to come back for the final season, Game of Thrones fans have been doing a lot of speculation about what might happen to some of their favorite characters as well as those that they love to hate.

It pays to watch the commentary

Recently, a theory about what might happen in Season 8 came out after finding a clue in the commentary found on DVD from visual effects producer Steve Kullback. He revealed that something big may be happening outside of Cersei’s map room based on a set that he was involved in building according to Cinema Blend.

We’ve seen Cersei in the map room in King’s Landing many times throughout the seasons. However, for Season 8, Kullback said he was asked to  “make it an exterior location in an upcoming episode, but I can’t tell you why. But that’ll pay off. [The courtyard] used to be at least a story taller, but there was a need to see the sky in this coverage.”

So now, fans are speculating that this Game of Thrones spoiler indicates that something big will be going on outside and we’ll need to be able to see it coming from Cersei’s perspective from inside the map room.

What would be a big deal, one that would “pay off” and that Cersei would need to see coming at her from outside of her map room? Dragons, of course!

It turns out that this revelation about changes to the map room and courtyard in King’s Landing aren’t the only clues that Dragons will be descending on King’s Landing in Season 8 of Game of Thrones.

Spoiler hunters believe that Daenerys’ vision from Season 2 might have something to do with what actually happens in Season 8. During her vision, Dany is seen walking through the Great Hall as it burns, seeing the Iron Throne empty, foreshadowing the end of the Lannisters’ rule.

The prevailing theory right now is that the new map room will allow Cersei and whoever is in the room with her to literally look up to see a dragon or dragons coming at King’s Landing just before the creatures swallow it all up in a sea of fire.

Now that would be a great way to end Cersei’s reign before Game of Thrones bows out for good. There’s still more clues, though, and a lot more ground to cover in order to wrap the whole story up.

According to the same report, Bran may have something to do with the downfall of Cersei and King’s Landing. WIth his power to Warg into other people and creatures, it has been speculated that he may be the driving force behind at least one of the dragons.

Calling on another hint from a previous season, Bran’s vision from Season 4 may also play into the scene or scenes that are coming in the final season. During the vision, Bran is seen looking down over King’s Landing with the shadow of a dragon on the ground below him. Is Bran riding the dragon or is HE the dragon?

The current theory regarding Bran’s vision and how it might be tied to Dany’s vision suggests that Bran may have Warged into one of the remaining dragons so that he can guide it attack the right areas in order to take Cersei and her army out without putting Daenerys’ life in danger.

Of course, we’ll have to tune in and see exactly how Game of Thrones is wrapped up when Season 8 premieres. However, with at least a full year to wait before the last season airs on HBO, it’s hard not to speculate and look for spoilers while we wait. No matter how it all goes down, if the final season of GoT is anything like the seven before it, it’s going to be an epic ride.
