Fear the Walking Dead early reviews indicate show surpassed original series
By Shawn Lealos
Something happened in the third season of Fear the Walking Dead — it got a little better than the show it spun off from.
Honestly, it took a little while for Fear the Walking Dead to find its feet. The first season was lackluster, with the family dynamic interesting, and seeing the epidemic from the start while there were still a lot of people still alive was interesting. However, the storytelling was not interesting, and none of the characters were likable.
If you don’t care if the survivors live or die — or worse, want some of them to die horribly — the show is doing something wrong. However, by season 3, there were factions and backstabbing and interesting characters doing surprising things. That is where Fear became more interesting than The Walking Dead, as it lumbered through its seventh season.

While season 8 of The Walking Dead is polarizing and is not as bad as some fans might have you believe, it is nowhere near the greatness that earlier seasons reached. There is a reason that ratings are dropping, and it has to do with sloppy storytelling and character work.
The good news is that as soon as The Walking Dead ends its eighth season (and ends the All-Out War), Fear is back, and fans might be in for a huge surprise. Forbes posted a “what to expect” from Fear the Walking Dead season 4 article after watching the first two episodes, and it sounds great,
The article states that the first two episodes are like one extended episode and deals with two groups of characters that meet up with each other. It includes four new cast members, including Lennie James (Morgan), Maggie Grace (Althea), Garret Dillahunt (John) and Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg). Those right there are four big-time actor names.
Madison, Nick and Alicia are all back — which is a slight spoiler since season 3 ended with only Madison known as still alive, but all of them appeared in photos and trailers, so it isn’t something AMC is trying to hide.
Here is what Forbes reported that is exciting: “Quite literally everything about Fear is better than the main show. It was already better in Season 3, but it’s improved even more now.” The article points out that the cast is better, the writing is “leagues better” and the cinematography is “a whole other league.”
If that doesn’t get you excited about Fear the Walking Dead season 4, check out the following photos and synopsis straight from AMC for the upcoming season.
"In the new season, the characters’ immediate past mixes with an uncertain present of struggle and discovery as they meet new friends, foes and threats. They fight for each other, against each other and against a legion of the dead, all to somehow build an existence amid the crushing pressure of lives coming apart. There will be darkness and light; terror and grace; the heroic, mercenary, and craven, all crashing together towards a new reality for Fear the Walking Dead."
