Legends of Tomorrow is officially granting fans’ wishes by promoting Matt Ryan to series regular next season.

Ever since Constantine was canceled, people have suggested he join the ragtag group on the Waverider. After a successful debut on the time-traveling show this season, The CW finally pulled the trigger to keep him onboard full-time.

Constantine might have been met with mixed reactions, but Matt Ryan was the one thing everyone could agree on. DC Comics kept him on board as the voice to the animated character, and The CW eventually had him guest-star on Arrow.

His popularity continued and eventually, the network commissioned an animated web series to join their Arrowverse. However, fans were so enthusiastic about Ryan’s stint on Legends of Tomorrow it seemed inevitable he would be asked to return.

What exactly does this mean for his web series? The CW has a few different options about how to treat their Constantine show. The most likely option is that it takes place on a different Earth, like Supergirl or Freedom Fighters: The Ray.

It could be set in the past, perhaps during the time that Ryan was absent from the Arrowverse. Either way, fans will definitely get to see the web series starting March 23 no matter what happens next season.

In the meantime, Matt Ryan will be reprising his demon hunter tonight on Legends of Tomorrow. Captain Sara Lance once again finds herself in trouble with  Mallus and the team contacts the occult expert down. He’ll be appearing at least once more before the season ends which will probably include a scene where he’s invited to stick around.

Adding John Constantine to the cast is a smart move by the Legends team to help replace the departed cast members. He’s been a hit with fans, and it’s easier to bring him back than to introduce a new character.

While viewers wait to get an official renewal for the show, they can catch Matt Ryan on Legends of Tomorrow tonight at 8 p.m.
