Walking Dead rumors: Is Georgie with The Commonwealth?

The Walking Dead introduced a brand-new character, and a brand-new group last night and fans are trying to figure out who it might be.

That character was named Georgie and is played by actress Jayne Atkinson (House of Cards). While some people on Twitter joked that she looked like a Hilary Clinton-wannabe, a lot of people believe that this might be Pamela Milton — the leader of the Commonwealth.

With that said, there might be another possibility, one that is a lot less interesting. She could end up being Magna, a survivor and member of a group from Washington, DC, that Jesus found in The Walking Dead #127 of the comic book series.

More from The Walking Dead

A short description of Magna is that of a group that was taken into Alexandria for safety and protected until joining the fight against The Whisperers. That makes little sense when looking at how Georgie said that she has the “key to the future.”

Jayne Atkinson talked to Cinema Blend and had some interesting things to say about her character.

"“She’s somebody who has spent a lot of time in research, studying history, that she almost seems professorial, and very wise. [She] is passionate about civilization.”"

Atkinson said that her character approaches communities and starts off by bartering to see what they are like. She is also “not afraid” but she said that Scott Gimple didn’t go much further in describing her character’s origin past that.

That description means that Georgie has nothing to do with The Whisperers, whose entire motif is to remain hidden. She is also likely not Magna unless The Walking Dead TV show is completely changing what that group was like in the comics (always possible).

What Atkinson said she is playing Georgie like is a sense of hope for the future.

"“I call her an inoculation of hope. She brings into, certainly Hilltop and to Maggie, a sense of purpose and hope. She tells Maggie, like a mother in a way, ‘I expect great things from you.'”"

When it comes to The Commonwealth, Pamela Milton did a great job of building a community of 50,000 people and ruling over it. However, Pamela is also someone who has no time for BS and seems little like Georgie outside of the resemblance.

We will see a lot more of Georgie, as Michonne trusts her, which is a huge thing. Whether she is Pamela or Magna, or a completely original character that doesn’t exist in the comic books remains to be seen.

The Walking Dead airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
