First full-length Cobra Kai trailer and release date
By Shawn Lealos
The first full-length Cobra Kai trailer is here and Daniel-san is no longer the hero.
There has been a slow rollout of teasers for the new YouTube Red series Cobra Kai and they have shown a lot of hints that Daniel-san and Johnny have changed since Karate Kid. The new full-length Cobra Kai trailer has us rooting for Johnny while it makes Daniel-san look like a jerk.
As the past few teasers have shown, Daniel is now a car salesman, and it looks like he owns his own car lot. Meanwhile, Johnny got a lot more screen time in this Cobra Kai trailer, starting with him looking to be drunk and passed out when his phone rings.

It also looks like Johnny was a reluctant hero here but one who took the role on full-force, possibly as a way to finally achieve the glory that Daniel robbed from him with a well-placed Crane Kick to the face.
The plot was finally shown here and it is exactly what the teasers hinted at.
After showing the original Karate Kid battle, Daniel talks down to Johnny when they meet up at his car lot. Then, Johnny sees a group of teenagers beating up and bullying another kid, Johnny does what he does best. He tells them not to mess up his car.
When they shove him, Johnny pulls out some of his old karate moves (while pulling a groin muscle in the process) and kicks all their butts. He didn’t do it to save the bullied kid, but that kid still comes to him for help. Johnny finally said he would not teach the kid karate, but he would be his sensei.
Johnny reopens Cobra Kai, which Daniel-san doesn’t like. He even mocks Johnny for beating up a bunch of teenagers before Johnny tells him he gave them what they deserved. Then, after Johnny starts to train a new batch of kids in the brutal Cobra Kai methods to help them overcome bullying at school, Daniel-san sets out to stop him.
"“He thinks he can bring Cobra Kai back to the valley. Not on my watch.”"

It is weird seeing Daniel-san, the original bullied kid, railing against Johnny helping bullied kids in the Cobra Kai trailer, but it also makes sense because he can’t put the past behind him.
The best part is – we have an actual premiere date. Cobra Kai premieres on May 2 on YouTube Red.
