Donald Glover releases script for canceled Deadpool series
FX might have axed Donald Glover’s animated Deadpool series but he’s not going to let it die quietly.
This morning he released 14 script pages for the canceled show to give fans a taste of what it would have been like. The network has yet to comment but fans have had varying reactions to the story.
Deadpool was ultimately abandoned by FX with the network citing “creative differences” for the reason. However, many fans quickly speculated it was due to Glover’s busy schedule. It’s a pretty safe assumption to make considering he’s starring in two Disney movies and Atlanta.

To dispel those rumors, he dropped a quick script for the animated show to prove how much he cares about the project.
The script itself has been met with mixed reactions on social media. Like the live-action film, Glover works with plenty of humor and pop culture references. But the pages do poke some fun at the network that rubbed some viewers the wrong way.
Deadpool tries to reason why the series was canceled within the script, and even considers the idea of racism. Some people found the self-awareness to be charming and funny but others saw it as trying too hard.
It definitely makes one questions whether the relationship between Glover and FX has become strained. In his recent interview with The New Yorker, he spoke about how he needed to trick the network into airing Atlanta because he knew they wouldn’t like the idea if he was upfront. While FX has maintained there’s no animosity between them, it feels as though something is off.
Glover also held Marvel responsible for the cancellation of the animated Deadpool series. He points out their inability to take a chance on anything remotely different from their formula.
It’s true, the comic book giant has been reluctant to stray from their successful method. With the FOX/Disney merger coming up, it’s possible they just weren’t interested in an R-Rated television show.

It was rumored that FOX leaked the footage for the live-action Deadpool movie, which helped make it a reality. With this new script, it’s possible Glover is hoping for the same outcome. If there are enough passionate fans out there, then it’s likely the show will be shopped around to a new network.
For now, fans will just have these 15 pages to entertain themselves with while they wait.
