Frank Miller’s new YA book ‘Cursed’ is coming to Netflix
Frank Miller’s new book, Cursed, hasn’t even been written yet but Netflix has already bought the rights.
The prolific comic book writer is working on an updated version of King Arthur in his new novel alongside Thomas Wheeler. With Game of Thrones ending, there’s been a mad scramble by networks to discover the next big fantasy hit.
Miller has garnered such a positive professional reputation that he might be the first person ever to write a book alongside the creation of his television show. Cursed definitely has the potential to make history while retelling some its own.

However, Game of Thrones fans are well aware of the dangers of adapting a series before the book is done. George R.R. Martin has yet to finish the end of his story, despite the HBO show heading into its final season.
Netflix already has a description of the new series that looks like a fascinating retelling of King Arthur. Except now, the infamous leader is actually a mercenary who is working alongside the protagonist Nimue. Together, they must go on a quest to save the world and meet a few familiar faces from legend.
"“A reimagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.”"
In a recent statement, Frank Miller has only expressed excitement over the new project. It feels tonally very different from his typical work but Cursed definitely has potential.
"“I have always been entranced by the mythological Arthur story—and by Nimue, in particular. It can be interpreted in any number of ways—from a delightful children’s story, as in The Sword in the Stone, to a terrifying interpretation like Excalibur. This tale represents an incredible opportunity and an exciting challenge for me as an illustrator, and I’m excited to collaborate on the story with Thomas Wheeler. I inherited a collection of antique children’s books from my mother, and I’ve always wanted to have a crack at it myself. This project is a dream come true.”"
Thomas Wheeler was equally effusive with his enthusiasm for working alongside the comic book legend. He said that he was both “honored and humbled” to work with a “living legend” like Frank Miller.
Wheeler also said Miller had more “formative impact” on him as a storyteller than anyone else.

Unfortunately, Frank Miller fans might have to wait a while before Cursed ends up coming to Netflix. Since the book and television series are being developed synonymously it will probably take longer to come to fruition.
