Daredevil season three inches closer to a premiere date now that Vincent D’Onofrio has wrapped filming.

The legendary Kingpin has officially finished his scenes for the upcoming season of Daredevil. D’Onofrio revealed on Twitter he had wrapped earlier and promised fans a jaw-dropping new season.

While D’Onofrio didn’t have a huge part of the action in season two, it wouldn’t be Daredevil without Hell’s Kitchen’s most notorious mobster. Easily one of the best parts of the freshman run of the show, it’s exciting to know he’ll be a large part of the next episodes.

More from Marvel

He’s been filming for the series for a long time, and Netflix has taken care to keep set photos from leaking out. It’s more than likely he will be one of the main antagonists of the season. However, with the recent rumors of Bullseye appearing, Kingpin could end up destroying Matt’s life.

Daredevil season three is widely expected to be adapting the “Born Again” arc from the comics. That story is about Wilson Fisk discovering the vigilante’s true identity and slowly disassembling his life. First, he starts by destroying Matt’s reputation as a lawyer and leaving him homeless with no money. Soon, things escalate to Kingpin hiring a hitman to take out Daredevil once and for all.

Initially, that assassin is the villain Nuke, who died in season two of Jessica Jones. If the show is introducing Bullseye this year, then there’s a chance he’ll be the killer hired by Kingpin. This would certainly explain why Bullseye is joining Daredevil this year.

It isn’t clear if Vincent D’Onofrio is wrapped for just this season or for the entire series. This could hint at Kingpin finally meeting his demise. He’s been a thorn in both Matt Murdock’s and Daredevil’s side, so the latter might break his “no killing” code to get vengeance on the man responsible for his father’s death.

Then again, would Netflix want to get rid of the best Marvel villain they have at the moment? With Kilgrave and Cottonmouth both gone, Kingpin is their last great bad guy left. Nevertheless, fans should expect a violent and explosive season three.

The upcoming episodes don’t have a set premiere but the rest of Daredevil is available to stream on Netflix. Be sure to tell us in the comments if you’re excited to revisit Hell’s Kitchen.
