Julianna Margulies talks about why she turned the offer to appear on The Good Fight in its premiere season!

Julianna Margulies is best known for, well, many roles but one of her most iconic roles was on The Good Wife as Alicia Florrick. The series ended in May of 2016, and it’s spin-off, The Good Fight began in February 2017. With such a quick turnaround between both shows, fans were left wondering who from the original series would make an appearance.

Of course, what we were really wondering is whether or not Julianna Margulies would make a guest appearance as Alicia. The first season came and went and there was no sign of her, and now after two seasons of The Good FightJulianna Margulies explains why she didn’t return when the show first started.

More from News

"“I really didn’t want to do it when they asked me in the first season, because I didn’t think that was fair [to the series or its cast, led by Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo and Rose Leslie]. I felt like, ‘Get on your own two feet. Do your thing.’ Because if Alicia had come in, in the first season, it would have been [all] about Alicia and The Good Wife. And now it’s their show.”"

Fair point! She gave The Good Fight a chance to stand on its own two feet, and create an identity outside of the show that preceded it. But does this mean she will never appear on an episode in the future? Well, not quite.

The Good Fight was recently renewed for a third season and is slated for a 2019 release. Even though it would be a step backward in her career, she says she never says never to anything. And for those may feel skeptical about a potential cameo, don’t forget she did return for the final season of ER!

Margulies has not watched The Good Fight past episode two of the first season but plans to binge watch it in a year or two.

"“I said to [franchise creators] Robert and Michelle [King] recently that it’s hard for me to watch a law show right now, which is how I felt after ER. I couldn’t watch another medical show, because you go right back into [the mechanics of shooting a show like that]. It just takes you out of the show. I’ll binge watch it in a year or two.”"
