Game of Thrones series received its seventh Outstanding Drama Series nomination; will it win a third time?

With a stunning 108 Emmy nominations, it seems like HBO is a great place to be if you’re looking to add some hardware to your trophy case. However, Game of Thrones was the real winner from today’s announcement.

The premium network proudly issued a press release today announcing their numerous programs who receive multiple Emmy nods today. The most recognized of them all is Game of Thrones, who received a whopping 22 nominations.

More from Game of Thrones

Here’s a rundown Game of Thrones’ nominations:
• Drama Series
• Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for both Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage
• Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Lena Headey
• Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Diana Rigg
• Directing for a Drama Series for both Jeremy Podeswa and Alan Taylor
• Writing for a Drama Series for David Benioff and D.B. Weiss

All of the Lannister siblings are nominated! This is Coster-Waldau’s first Emmy nomination for his take on Jaime Lannister. It’s Headey’s fourth nomination for her role as Cersei Lannister. And Dinklage has been nominated every season for his role as Tyrion Lannister and won the Emmy 2011 and 2015.

I have to add that Diana Rigg has always been brilliant as Olenna Tyrell. This is her fourth nomination for this role. Since Olenna is no longer with us, I’d love to see an Emmy win for her as a proper send-off.

The 70th Annual Primetime Emmys will take place on September 17, 2018, with Colin Jost and Michael Che hosting.
