Yellowstone renewed for season 2 by Paramount Network
After just four episodes, the fledgling Paramount Network has given its new drama ‘Yellowstone,’ starring Kevin Costner, a second season renewal.
The news comes as no surprise given Yellowstone‘s fantastic ratings. The series was the highest rated debut of the summer. Since then, it’s held its own, becoming the second most-watched scripted cable series after The Walking Dead.
The show follows the Dutton family, headed by Costner’s John Dutton, as they manipulate, fight, and even kill to maintain their control over the Yellowstone ranch. Surrounded on all sides by conflict, the Duttons must play a complicated game against developers who wish to bring new people to the town and a Native American reservation.

The 10-episode second season will begin production soon, according to Deadline, although the new season won’t air until 2019. The season will be shot on location in Utah and Montana.
Meanwhile, the last six episodes of season 1 of Yellowstone will continue to be aired each Wednesday on Paramount Network at 10 pm. The season finale will be broadcast on August 22.
In addition to Costner, the series’ cast includes Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Danny Huston, and Gil Birmingham. They will all continue to star. assuming their characters make it to the end of the first season.
In addition, creator and showrunner Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, Wind River) will return to showrun and help write the show’s second season.

Yellowstone is a notable success for the new Paramount Network, enhancing its name recognition and viewers’ potential interest in future new series. Given the level of successYellowstone has had already, it’s a good move for Paramount Network to lock in the second season. The move also rewards the cast and crew of the series for their contributions.
