Fear The Walking Dead returns with its season 4 midseason premiere in the aftermath of Madison’s untimely demise.

Fear The Walking Dead is operating with full steam ahead after the tragic season 4 midseason finale. We’ve lost Madison and Nick all in the span of one season, and as this week’s episode indicates, the group is lost without their guidance.

When the episode begins, it appears we may be heading into crossover world again when Morgan decides he is going back to Alexandria to tell Rick he was right all along.

As he prepares to leave, we’re left wondering what will cause him to stay back, because there can’t be a crossover episode this quickly, can there?

The most entertaining aspect of the midseason premiere was the hurricane of walkers that were flying around as a result of the crazy weather. Weather elements aren’t often a part of either of the zombie shows so this was a welcome change to see how the walkers fare when the weather is against them.

But as we mentioned, the group is really struggling without Nick and Madison, and with the mother figure gone, no one has any idea which direction to head in. Morgan decides he’s going back and gets Al to agree to drop him off and then there are John and June who are taking care of Charlie while John plans out a fantasy life in his cabin with the three of them as a family. June doesn’t exactly seem on board with this idea, but time will tell.

Perhaps the most intriguing characters in this episode of Fear The Walking Dead are Luciana and Victor who have found refuge inside of a mansion that houses all the liquor in the world. Luciana spends her days blasting loud music to drown out the sorrows that have riddled her life as of late, meanwhile, Victor is in a constant drunken stupor, because, why not?

And then we have Alicia, who is truly the one who has lost so much so quickly. Her mother is gone, her brother is gone, and now she’s trying to follow in her mother’s footsteps by trying to solve the mystery of the walkers with “Help” notes attached to them. Seems like she is just ignoring the issue at hand, but we all have our ways of coping.

Morgan doesn’t leave Alicia’s side throughout the episode, determined to pull her back from the world of avoidance she has surrounded herself in. And by the end of the episode, we’re not entirely sure where everyone is headed and what lies ahead for the fractured group. But it appears new characters will soon be heading to the show, so there’s always that to look forward to.

Fear The Walking Dead airs every Sunday on AMC at 9 PM EST!
