Matt Groening’s new show Disenchantment is finally available for viewing on Netflix.

After having hugely successful animated series that satirized both the family sitcom and the sci-fi universe, Matt Groening is now turning his sharp eye to the world of high fantasy familiar to fans of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.

But since the main character happens to be a princess, it’s fair to expect that the show will also satire that aspect as well.

Netflix is a perfect place for Matt Groening, as his previous two shows Futurama and The Simpsons were smash hits in both syndication and ratings, to say the least.

Both shows make for excellent binge-watching with The Simpsons being the ultimate binge watching experience.

Without The Simpsons, odds are that shows like King of the Hill and Family Guy would not exist either. The show was groundbreaking as it was considered edgy in its humor and subject matter.

Comparing what sitcoms were on the air during the ’80s show how daring Matt Groening’s idea really was.

In fact, had The Simpsons not aired, modern television as we know it would be radically different. Of course, when a show has been on the air for nearly 30 continuous years and holds the record for the longest running scripted show in history, it’s easy to forget how drastically television itself has changed in that time.

Netflix, DVR’s, the entire viewing experience, and what people view is completely different. For example, reality TV shows just didn’t exist.
