Starz announces Outlander season four premiere date
Starz has announced a premiere date for season four of its time-traveling romance series Outlander.
Outlander, the Starz original series based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon, is a fantasy romance series about a time traveler — 20th-century doctor Claire (Caitriona Balfe) — and her 18th century Highlander husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).
As ridiculous as the premise sounds, the series is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore, the legendary name behind Battlestar Galactica and some of the best episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

While the description of the series in question would ordinarily put me off, having Moore’s name attached to it would definitely make me reconsider watching.
The 13-episode fourth season is set to premiere November 4 at 8pm on Starz and will be available to stream on the Starz app. Season three, based on the events of Gabaldon’s Voyager, ended with Jamie and Claire washed up on a beach in what would later become the state of Georgia.
Season 4 will be based on the novel Drums of Autumn in which Claire and Jamie try to settle down in colonial America. Along the way, they encounter the pirate Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) in events that will have severe consequences for the Fraser family in the future.
Meanwhile, in the 20th century, Claire’s daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and historian Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin) team up after Wakefield helped Claire find Jamie in the past. As they search for evidence that Claire was reunited with Jamie in the 18th century, a surprising discovery force them to consider following after Claire to investigate.
Although season four is set to premiere in November, Outlander has already been renewed for a fifth and sixth season. Outlander is clearly a popular commodity for Starz as they show clear faith in its continued success over the next three seasons.
