Hulu’s true-crime anthology series, The Act, just added Chloe Sevigny and AnnaSophia Robb to their cast!
The Act sounds intriguing, unique, and odd and, to be honest, we are looking forward to what this series will bring. This new Hulu series will be presented as an anthology and tell stranger-than-fiction true-crime stories, according to Deadline. Joining Patricia Arquette and Joey King for the first season are Bloodline’s Chloe Sevigny and The Carrie Diaries AnnaSophia Robb.
The first season of The Act will be based on series writer Michelle Dean’s 2016 Buzzfeed article titled, “Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom To Be Murdered.” King will play a character named Gypsy Blanchard who is trying to get away from her mother, Dee Dee (Arquette) with whom she has a very toxic and suffocating relationship.

In trying to break from her mother, a series of events will unfold that end in murder. Already sounds super interesting to us! Sevigny will be playing the role of Mel, who has had a difficult life and sympathizes with Dee Dee. However, her perception will quickly change when Dee Dee reveals a side of herself that will throw Mel for a loop.
Robb is playing the role of Mel’s popular and loved daughter, Lacey. She seems to be drawn in by Gypsy and Dee Dee and offers to help them out in any way she can. The series does not yet have a premiere date but we are definitely intrigued by the premise and characters already and look forward to diving into a world of outlandish true-crimes!
Sevigny will next be seen playing the role of accused murderess Lizzie Borden opposite Kristen Stewart and has been recognized for her past work in many projects, including being an Oscar nominee for her role in Boys Don’t Cry.
Robb most recently appeared in Ridley Scott’s Civil War miniseries, Mercy Street and is most known for her lead role in The Carrie Diaries.
