AMC’s new supernatural horror drama NOS4A2 has cast its leads, Zachary Quinto (Star Trek, American Horror Story) and Ashleigh Cummings (Tomorrow, When the War Began, Hounds of Love).

Incredible news for fans of the horror drama genre and AMC’s fantastic shows. Following the success of horror dramas The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead, Preacher (not really horror but it’s definitely dark) and most recently The Terror, AMC announced in April that a new show NOS4A2 would join the genre.

It’s been given a straight-to-series, 10 episode order and will debut in 2019.

The series is based on a bestselling novel of the same name by author Joe Hill. The premise is as follows:

"“Vic McQueen, a young working-class artist who discovers that she has a supernatural ability to track the seemingly immortal Charlie Manx. Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland — a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic must strive to defeat Manx and rescue his victims — without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.”"

Sounds scary enough.

The title might be a bit of mouthful for some, including AMC’s voiceover guy known for saying “Coming up on AMC’s ____” –but ‘NOS4A2’ is named after the license plate number of the car Manx drives.

It is also pronounced the same as the classic German expressionist horror vampire — Nosferatu.

Quinto will play the antagonist, the evil soul-devouring Charlie Manx. Cummings will star opposite of him as Vic McQueen, whose supernatural abilities might make her the only person able to stop Manx let alone even enter Christmasland.

In the novel, Manx has her daughter, which I would guess will likely be a big part of the plot.

Hill and Jami O’Brien (Fear The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels) are executive producers and will be teaming with Co-President of Torante Television, Lauren Corrao. O’Brien commented on how thrilled she was to be working with Hill:

"“As a huge fan of Joe Hill’s rich, imaginative, and exciting book, I am over the moon to be working with such a phenomenal cast and creative team on this special project.”"
