The Walking Dead season 9 directors and episode titles revealed
By Derek Johns
The long wait for season 9 of The Walking Dead is almost over with the first episode now just a couple weeks away.
Now AMC has released both the directors and official titles for the first eight episodes of the season.
Longtime fans will likely recognize a director’s name or two and the name at the bottom of the list is sure to catch some interest.
Naturally, the list includes some seasoned vets on the show like longtime The Walking Dead directors Greg Nicotero, who directed episodes 1 and 5 titled “A New Beginning” and “What Comes After” respectively and Michael Satrazemis, who handled directing duties for the midseason finale episode “Evolution.”

Daisy Mayer helmed the second episode titled “The Bridge” and while this is her first episode with The Walking Dead, she has a long list of TV credits to her name including Orange is the New Black, Chuck, House of Lies, Mad Men, Nurse Jackie and Fear the Walking Dead.
She even has some film experience having directed the 1998 adaptation of Madeline.
The third episode “Warning Signs” was directed by Dan Liu. This is only Liu’s second episode as a director but he has spent several years as a crew member on the show.
The fourth episode “The Obliged” was handled by Rosemary Rodriguez. This will be the third episode Rodriguez has directed for the show (and this could possibly part of the female-centric material showrunner Angela Kang promised earlier this year).
Her previous directing credits include The Good Wife, Jessica Jones, Rescue Me, Castle and Law and Order: SVU.
Episode six “Who Are You Now’ was handled by Larry Teng. He previously helmed one other episode of The Walking Dead as well as episodes for The Good Doctor, Supergirl, Lethal Weapon and Criminal Minds among others.
The seventh episode “Stradivarius” is where things get really interesting on the directing front. Former fan favorite The Walking Dead actor Michael Cudlitz (AKA Abraham Ford) is making his directorial debut.
Season 9 of The Walking Dead will make its premiere on AMC October 7th. What are your thoughts on the directing choices so far for season 9? Give us your thoughts in the comment section.
