Netflix’s The Kominsky Method gets season 2 renewal
Two months after its first season debuted on Netflix, The Kominsky Method has been renewed for a second.
Just like season 1, season 2 of the Chuck Lorre-created single-camera comedy, which stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin, will have 8 half-hour episodes. Production will start in Los Angeles in late January.
The renewal seemed inevitable after The Kominsky Method became the streaming service’s first series to win the best comedy trophy at the Golden Globes almost two weeks ago.
Douglas also took home the lead actor in a comedy series award and Arkin was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

According to Deadline, the only reason it took so long to renew the show was Netflix and the show’s studio, Warner Bros. TV, had trouble coming to terms on the number of episodes.
Netflix was hoping to increase the episode count to 13 but ultimately agreed to keep the number at eight.
To celebrate the news, the streamer released a video announcing The Kominsky Method‘s renewal featuring Douglas and Arkin joking together and chatting about the series.
The show centers on Sandy Kominsky (Douglas), an aging actor who becomes an acting coach to make ends meet, and his agent and friend, Norman (Arkin). In the video announcement, Arkin sums the show up this way,
"“It’s about two deranged, neurotic, depressed old men whose lives are falling apart, who have nothing to offer anymore and know it, and are trying to survive. It’s hysterical!”"
Nancy Travis and Sarah Baker also star. All four actors will return in the series’ second season.

Series creator Chuck Lorre is best known for his extremely successful network sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, and Mom.
The Kominsky Method has given him the opportunity to do something outside the constraints of a network series.
That, combined with the performances of respected stars Douglas and Arkin, have enabled the show to nab some serious awards love.

Not only was it successful at the Golden Globes, but it was also named one of AFI’s TV Programs of the Year and has been nominated for three Screen Actors Guild Awards.
