Game of Thrones: Will there be more spin-offs in the future?
By Ariba Bhuvad
Will HBO consider doing more Game of Thrones spin-offs?
Game of Thrones premieres in just a couple of months, but fans are already anticipating the prequel spin-off aimed to begin production this summer.
We can’t help but wonder, however, if there will be more spin-offs that we can look forward to. According to President of Programming, Casey Bloys, there could potentially, possibly be more. But there are a few things to consider.

According to Bloys, HBO doesn’t want their programming to revolve around or depend on the Game of Thrones franchise. Considering how big the fandom is, it could very easily take over HBO simply based on the viewership.
However, Bloys didn’t completely shoot down the idea either. During HBO’s TCA panel, he stated that “I think we’d be crazy not to take a shot, but it’s not going to be the sole focus of our programming efforts.”
Whatever the case may be, we’re excited that, at the very least, one spin-off is certainly happening. For anyone that was wondering, Bloys debunked any future theories or hopes of a crossover with the original series during the TCA presentation.
There is also no premiere date for the prequel spin-off, starring Naomi Watts, but presumably, there will likely be a buffer between the end of Game of Thrones and the next show.
The unnamed spin-off will begin production on its pilot this summer (it has not yet been picked up to series) and will film in Northern Ireland. However, additional locations are still being sought out so anything is game at this point.
All in all, it is rather exciting for Game of Thrones fans with the upcoming final season and then the spin-off (and hopefully more!) coming up.
We can only imagine how epic the final few episodes will be, and as we recover from them, we can start eagerly awaiting the new series.
What do you think about getting multiple Game of Thrones spin-off shows?
