The series will cover the infamous case back in 1989 that consisted of a heinous crime and a series of false prosecutions that changed the lives of the then-teenage boys forever.
DuVernay seeks to shed light on the injustices these boys went through as a result of their skin color.
This group of teens came to be known as the Central Park Five and through the Netflix series finally be given a chance to tell their side of the story.
Central Park Five or rather When They See Us stars Vera Farmiga, Felicity Huffman, Michael K. Williams, John Leguizamo, amongst many others.
The series will take place in 1989 and focus on the five teens from Harlem (Santana, Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, and Korey Wise) who went through the criminal justice system wringer regarding a Central Park rape case.
They were eventually cleared of the crimes, but not until 25 years later.
The series is set to premiere on Netflix on May 31st.
