It’s been almost 20 years since Angel left Sunnydale, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, to forge his own identity in Los Angeles on his own show.

The Buffy spin-off Angel became a cult hit that ran for five seasons between 1999 and 2004. Now that we’re coming up on the 20 year anniversary of the series’ launch shouldn’t it get the same reunion treatment Buffy got when it reached the same landmark?

According to Angel’s alter-ego, David Boreanaz, it just might happen. On Tuesday, Boreanaz visited The Talk and when the subject of Angel came up, Boreanaz was nothing but enthusiastic about the show. He also made fans very happy by teasing the vampire with a soul’s possible return.

Boreanaz seemed excited by the fact that even two decades on, he’s still being asked about Angel, saying:

"We’re coming up on 20 years. I mean, that’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that and that’s where I really started my gig — this acting world.  I love that character."

The hosts of the show asked if Boreanaz would be up for an Angel reunion, to which he gave a vague but positive reply:

"So, I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away much. I can say, it’s 20 years coming up this fall and we may have something in the works."

While Angel doesn’t get nearly as much attention as Buffy, the spin-off is still loved by many fans of the Whedonverse. If a reunion ends up being anything like the Buffy reunion that happened to celebrate the anniversary of that show’s premiere, fans will be thrilled to see their favorite stars together again.

Angel’s fifth and final season, which saw Angel and his team taking over evil law firm Wolfram & Hart, was considered especially strong. So fans were left heartbroken when the show was canceled and ended on a harrowing, if appropriate, cliffhanger.
