Sophie Turner talks final season of Game of Thrones
With the last season of Game of Thrones premiering tonight, how does one of the show’s biggest stars feel about the ending?
TONIGHT is the season 8 premiere of Game of Thrones! I don’t know about you, but I am so excited, I can hardly stand it.
Months of theorizing and obsessing have led this. We, as fans, have been grasping to any little nugget of information any of the stars of the show have given us. And over the last few weeks, the stars have been making their rounds on the talk show circuit and even Saturday Night Live!
Sansa Stark herself, played by 23-year-old Sophie Turner, gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly recently, where she teased that Sansa could be tearing apart her family, even though she has become the leader of Winterfell. She said:

"“This year there are certain challenges of people who come into her life that threaten that. She has to go behind a few backs and risks tearing apart her family.”"
We already know that Jon will return to Winterfell, most likely in the first episode. And he will have his new Queen, Daenerys Targaryen, with him. How will this affect Sansa’s relationship with Jon? Turner said to EW:
"“Her relationship with Jon is struggling because he’s so clearly in love with Daenerys and believes in her completely. Sansa thinks she’s power-hungry and not the rightful queen. There’s a huge amount of fighting between Sansa and Jon.”"
I hope their issues don’t last long because they have such a pressing danger coming from more north than they are. They need each other to defeat the Night King and the Army of the Dead.
Now that Game of Thrones is over, Turner said she has been enjoying time off and that it hasn’t hit her that it’s really over. But it may hit her this summer when they typically begin filming in Northern Ireland. She can also occupy her time by planning her wedding to her fiancé, Joe Jonas.
Of Turner’s on-screen siblings, I think she will really miss them.
"“I don’t think we’ll never work together again. The saddest part is I don’t get to be Sansa, she doesn’t get to be Arya, and we don’t get to interact on that level — which is sad because their relationship is a big part of who Maisie and I are. That’s going to be the saddest thing. I won’t see Maisie in her costume anymore, I won’t see Kit in his costume anymore. I won’t be able to be in my costume. We won’t get to play these characters.”"
And if you’re worried about Sophie Turner losing touch with her on-screen sister Arya, played by Maisie Williams, don’t. They plan to collaborate by writing and producing scripts together! And I’ve heard that Turner asked Williams to be her co-maid of honor.
Cue the tears!
