Showtime has released a new trailer for its upcoming limited series, The Loudest Voice, about Fox News founder Roger Ailes, played by Russell Crowe.

The trailer makes clear that the seven-episode The Loudest Voice will center on Roger Ailes’ influence on American politics through Fox News.

The clip also touches on the series’ depiction of Ailes’ awful behavior towards his female employees, especially former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson, played by Naomi Watts.

The trailer is packed with soundbites that should resonate with anyone following politics and culture in the United States in the past few years. One gem from Crowe’s Ailes: “People don’t want to be informed, they want to feel informed.”

According to Showtime,

"[The Loudest Voice] focuses on the past decade in which Ailes arguably became the Republican Party’s de facto leader, and the sexual harassment accusations that brought his career to an end."

Take a look at the trailer below:

In addition, to high-wattage stars Crowe and Watts, the series’ cast also includes Sienna Miller as Elizabeth, Ailes’ wife, Seth MacFarlane as former Fox News head of PR Brian Lewis, Simon McBurney as Rupert Murdoch head of News Corp, and Annabelle Wallis as a former booker for Fox News, Laurie Luhn.

The Loudest Voice looks to be prestige television at its finest. Its topical story will surely be of interest to many, especially if the show is as sleek as the trailer indicates.

The series could offer an opportunity for a thought-provoking discussion about the influence of 24-hour news in our culture as well as continue the conversation that’s already started about sexual harassment in the workplace. The currently fractured cultural landscape may make such conversation impossible however. We’ll know for sure when the series is released.

One way or another, though, it looks like we can look forward to another powerhouse performance from Crowe as Ailes.

The Loudest Voice premieres on Showtime on Sunday, June 30 at 10/9c.
