This new Game of Thrones theory might give Jaime Lannister a second chance at a better ending.

Likely a subconscious response to their displeasure with how his character arc came to its conclusion, some tin foil hat-wearing Game of Thrones fans have cooked up a new crackpot theory that suggests Jaime Lannister actually survived the Red Keep falling onto his head.

First laid out by Tumblr user WeedsAreFlowersToo, fans of Game of Thrones are attempting to make a case that Jaime Lannister is still alive and will somehow appear in the series finale.

The theory begins by asking why no one is paying tribute to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and his iconic character on social media.

More from Game of Thrones

"“Why isn’t ANYONE acknowledging that Jaime Lannister just died??? Why is nobody in the cast thanking Nik for his performance? Why did Pilou and Lena’s insta post not say anything about Jaime dying? Why isn’t Nik saying anything about what he thinks of the scene? Why did he make a post saying goodbye to Lena, and not to the character he played for 8 years? Why is there no talk of Jaime’s death in the game revealed?” the theory begins."

However, far more compelling than the social media radio silence from fellow Game of Thrones stars is a tweet from Entertainment Weekly writer and editor James Hibberd.

Hibberd, who has been releasing interviews with recently perished Game of Thrones actors such as Lena Headey, Gwendoline Christie, and Rory McCann, had a particularly interesting response when asked about his interview with Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

After a fan tweeted at Hibberd asking for an update on his Coster-Waldau interview, Hibberd said that he’s “holding that one for a bit.”

Now, why would Entertainment Weekly release interview with stars such as Headey, Christie, and McCann’s following their character’s ultimate demise, but not Coster-Waldau?

Additionally, WeedsAreFlowersToo also points out that  “Hibberd also said there was a character he was surprised to see alive in episode 6.”

Frankly, Jaime Lannister emerging from the rubble in the series finale would be patently ridiculous, as what appeared to be about a million pounds of bricks collapse onto his head. However, given the seemingly consensus sloppy writing that has occurred this season, nothing is out of the realm of possibility.
