Game of Thrones: Sophie Turner knows who to blame for Winterfell coffee cup

The princess of Winterfell herself appeared on The Tonight Show last night and has cleared up any confusion about the Game of Thrones coffee cup controversy.

Sophie Turner is having a hell of a year.

She’s starring on the biggest television show of the moment – and all time – Game of Thrones as Sansa Stark. She just got married to Joe Jonas by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas last week. And in just a few weeks, she stars in the X-Men movie Dark Phoenix. All this and she could be the one sitting on the Iron Throne in the end.

Fresh from an appearance at this year’s Met Gala, Turner made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night.

She was there to promote her hit television show (as if it needed more hype) and her upcoming film. But she also cleared up a bit of controversy.

By now, we all have heard about the coffee cup left on the head table in Winterfell by “someone” involved with the show, and it ended up appearing on the show. Fans have been speculating who was responsible for the snafu.

A photo began circulating of Turner, and Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) dressed in their Thrones costumes and Turner holding the same type of coffee cup.

Fallon, who pulls out the photo, accuses Turner of the mistake. Her defense is pretty solid. Lyanna Mormont was already dead by the time the coffee cup was left on the table, so the picture of Turner and Ramsey was from the week prior. So different scenes equal different coffee cups.

But Turner has an idea of who did leave the cup on the table.

“I mean, look who it’s placed in front of,” she says, pointing to her costar and on-screen rival, Emilia Clarke.

If you’re hoping Turner revealed anything about the last two episodes of the series, you’ll be disappointed. As the rest of the cast, she plays coy on any information.
