Patrick J. Adams aka Mike Ross is returning to Suits

A familiar face is returning for the final season of Suits!

Just when Suits fans like me were about to lose all our hopes that our precious Mike Ross will actually come back for the final season, it was announced yesterday that Patrick J. Adams will be once again suiting up as Mike Ross.

According to Deadline, Adams will come back for episode 5 of the 10-episode final season, for a case that will bring him face to face with Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl). Deadline also reports that the actor is also expected to return for the series’ final episode and he released a statement to them.

"“I couldn’t be happier to be part of the final chapter of Suits. I’ve missed my TV family, and am looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Mike Ross can stir up at the firm one last time. But if the wardrobe department thinks they’re getting back the suits I stole when I left, they’re going to be very disappointed.”"

The last time we saw Adams, Mike Ross got married to Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) and left the firm to run a pro-bono clinic in Seattle which was his dream job.

The show premiered back in 2011 and its original premise revolved around Mike Ross who was on the run from a drug deal gone bad. He ended up getting an interview to be the associate of Harvey Specter, the best closer New York has ever seen. Harvey ended up hiring him even though Mike did not have a law degree but because he was a prodigy with a photographic memory. The show became immediately popular and its been USA Network’s most-watched show for 8 years now. Patrick J. Adams appearing in 108 of the show’s total 126 episodes that have aired till, since he famously exited after season 7. The show also holds an IMDb rating of 8.6 and is on their list of Top 250 TV Shows of all time.

The showrunner, Aaron Korsh told Deadline:

"“Adams is the foundation of the show; it was built on him, others also but the very foundation we built on Patrick and Mike, and we all wanted to have him back. It was about how to integrate him organically and in a satisfying way.”"

Obviously, Adams return doesn’t mean that we will get to see his on-screen wife Rachel Zane again, as Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex just had a baby. But Aaron Korsh said:

"“There is always a chance she is going to pick up the phone and call me and say can I come back, and if she did she would be welcome back her with arms wide open. But no, l don’t see that happening.”"

He did hint that we will get a clue as to what Rachel’s up to and fans have already started speculating about the fact that Ross and Rachel might be expecting a baby which will also mirror both the actor’s real life as Patrick also had a baby recently.

The show also left Donna and Harvey’s, better known as Darvey’s fate up on the air with last season’s cliffhanger as we saw them kissing in the last minutes of the finale. Is Suits finally gonna give us what we have wanted for so long? We can’t wait to find out. Suits season 9 premieres on July 17 and stars Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, Katherine Heigl, Dule Hill, and Wendell Pierce.
