Suits season 9 premiere recap: Everything’s Changed
Donna and Harvey are official and just too cute to handle in the final season premiere of Suits. And, no it’s not a dream! It’s happening.
After eight seasons of will-they/won’t they, Suits fans rejoice as Harvey and Donna are officially together now. The ninth and final season of Suits started with exactly what fans have wanted for the last eight years. Harvey is in Donna’s bed and when asked about what changed for him to finally realize that he loves Donna, Harvey answers and says that he looked around and she was not there.
He also tells her that everything has changed between last night and this morning. Soon, Donna is seen talking to Rachel and telling her that “it” finally happened. Harvey walks in and figures out that Donna told Rachel and teases her by saying that they were not gonna tell anybody. What happened to their plan? He soon chuckles and admits that he already told Mike as well.
Suddenly Louis shows up at Donna’s apartment to talk about the aftermath of Robert being disbarred. And he sees Harvey in her apartment wearing the same clothes he wore yesterday and Louis being Louis assumes that these two were just “banging it out all night”. By that, he meant that they were figuring out what to do of this entire Robert situation, of course. The whole banter between Harvey, Louis and Donna is pure love.

Donna and Harvey eventually agree that now is not the right time to break the news but Louis brings it up in front of Samantha that Donna and Harvey were “banging it out all night” and she figures it out. She gets mad at the fact that she just lost everything and these two are out there having the time of their lives and goes to confront Harvey. Things get heated as Samantha is angry with him for being responsible for what happened to Robert and Harvey is being Harvey. Although Donna tries to calm Harvey down and tells him to settle their fight by letting her take out her anger towards him by giving her a fight in the ring. Harvey initially agrees to that which leads up to a great boxing sequence between these two and they settle their differences.
Kaldor is coming after Zane’s clients and there is nothing the firm can do about him. The only way he will back off is that if he gets Harvey’s 10 clients which Harvey would not have normally done but to really hash things out with Samantha, he does it anyway. He also gives one of his favorite clients to Samantha to truly make it even.
Throughout the episode, the firm is in some serious sh*t with the New York Bar Association. They want Robert’s name out of the firm and the firm’s reputation has taken a huge hit. Nobody is willing to sign with them as long as Zane’s name is associated with the firm, some even want Samantha to be fired as well. No law students are willing to interview with the firm either.
Harvey has given his word to Samantha that Robert’s name will stay up on the wall as long as he is here. These all lead up to a representative of the Bar showing up at the end of the final moments of Suits‘ season premiere with documents that gives her full control over the firm, either they accept this decision or every partner will be suspended for six months from practicing law in New york.
Although even in these dark times, Harvey and Donna are giving us all the feels, they are too cute to handle and I must admit that the Darvey moments have been worth all those years of wait. You see Harvey embrace the side of him which we have not seen before, towards the end of the episode he asks Donna to meet him at Mike and Rachel’s old apartment.
Mike had asked him to rent out their apartment but Harvey never did so, he created a fake tenant and has been paying rent in case they ever decide to come back (I live for Marvey moments and I really want to see this happen). Also, the fake tenant is called Rick Sorkin, the same kid who never showed up for his interview and instead Mike was hired. Harvey has realized that he is exactly where he should be and he is gonna not only make us and Donna cry but he’ll cry as well.
