Veronica Mars: Should there be a season 5?
After that explosive ending, should Veronica Mars return for another run?
Warning: Major spoilers for Veronica Mars season 4 below!
Fans are still reeling from the loss of a major character and many are refusing to even accept the ending. It’s understandable, considering the show got rid of one of the “untouchable” characters in the viewers’ eyes. However, I personally think it would be a missed opportunity for the show to go out on such a low note.
There has been a lot of arguments this past week within the Veronica Mars fandom. Many have turned Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell into the villains while Jason Dohring is the victim. Every interview is being picked apart while Bell’s early disdain for Logan’s character in the first few seasons is used to show that she was “the main supporter” for killing him off this time around. Essentially, the fandom is mourning and the knee-jerk reaction is to blame the two for being poor executive producers.

However, that would be a mistake in the long-term. Logan’s death becomes meaningless if the show doesn’t continue for another season. Right now, it feels like a cliffhanger thrown in at the end for shock value. Yet, even Jason Dohring has asked fans to have faith in Rob Thomas’ story-telling abilities. In an interview with TVLine, his advice to heartbroken LoVe fans was just that.
"Trust in Rob Thomas. He’s gonna guide the show in a good way, as he has at every turn. I have complete faith in his ability to write great story, and Kristen’s drive to keep this show going. I feel like this is a new beginning for the show."
In a potential season 5, there would be time to truly explore the lasting effects of Logan’s demise. Veronica Mars already teased how the titular lead would finally be compelled to address her mental health after years of sweeping things under the rug.
Of course, there are going to be plenty of people who will pretend the series ended with the wedding. If the show doesn’t get renewed, then this makes sense and allows LoVe fans to pretend the couple got to finish the series with their happy ending. However, we’re hoping Veronica Mars is able to return and prove that they’ve had a plan all along.
