There’s still no title for The Walking Dead spin-off, but Nico Tortorella has just been added to the cast. Will they leave their role on Younger? We’ve got details!

Per an exclusive report from Deadline, Nico Tortorella (Younger) has been added to the cast of the new The Walking Dead spin-off. According to the report, Tortorella will not leave their role on TV Land’s Younger, which was renewed for a seventh season. That’s good news for all of those Josh fans out there.

In addition to acting, Tortorella is a published writer. They published a book of poetry in early 2018 titled all of it is you: poetry. It explored how we relate to the world around us.

Their second book, Space Between: Explorations of Love, Sex, and Fluidity, will be released this September. It’s a memoir that will continue conversations and themes from their podcast The Love Bomb. That includes how Tortorella came to identify as non-binary and became a leader in the fluidity movement.

Tortorella joins the cast as Felix. The character is described as someone who has a moral compass and isn’t afraid to fight for acceptance and for those he cares about. That’s something that will be vital for the first generation to have grown up during the apocalypse.

I’m kind of interested to see how this generation will function. Will it have the same strict social norms and hang-ups that our current era has? Or, will that carry less importance than basic survival in the post-apocalyptic world?

Another question we still can’t answer is what the title of this The Walking Dead spin-off will be. It’s already started production in Richmond, VA, per Deadline. That makes me wonder if there is a title being kept under wraps that might be a major spoiler for something that happens before the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead‘s tenth season. Or, you know, they might still just be working on it.

The Walking Dead Universe Executive Producer Scott Gimple created the Spring 2020 spin-off with Matt Negrete. All of the episodes will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island). Negrete will serve as the show-runner. Tortorella joins a cast that includes Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball), Aliyah Royale (The Red Line), Hal Cumpston (Bilched), and Alexa Mansour (The Resident).
