Glow season 3, episode 4 recap: Say Yes
The show about a show based on a true story of an old show is back on Netflix with ten new episodes.
Glow introduces a fabulous new character in Bobby Barnes (Kevin Cahoon), who, in his show Icons, performs Barbra, Liza, and Carol. The ladies are obsessed with him and the show.
Again, the idea of gay men being out and drag was taboo in 1985, so Bobby is having a hard time getting people in the seats. But he really is intertwined in every storyline in this particular episode.
Quick recap: Ruth’s boyfriend, Russel visits for the weekend and it doesn’t go as planned. The ladies get really into a show at the hotel, especially Sheila. Bash replaces Keith with a magician.

It’s cringeworthy: Basically, any scene where Ruth and Russell shared screen time. From them lying in bed together, to when she suggests they move in together, to when she’s trying on rings in the pawn shop. They have no chemistry and it their relationship is dying a slow, painful death.
Biggest surprise: The fact that Bash could be gay. Rhonda brings Bobby to meet Bash so that he can invite him to Icons to possibly produce it. When Bash says it will have to be the early show because he and Rhonda turn in early, Bobby replies, “My wife and I go to bed early, too.” Bash was immediately uncomfortable, as if he had just been figured out.
Not surprising: So, later on, when Bash is watching the incredible performance of Bobby as Liza singing “Say Yes,” it doesn’t surprise me when he turns him down. By rejecting Bobby’s show, he’s also rejecting his true sexuality.
Funniest moment: Debbie and Cherry get high and they get real about motherhood and babies.
Best moment: When Sheila opens up to Bobby after Bash rejects his show. It’s the first time we get background on Sheila and the first time we see her without her wig. He gently brushes it while he asks her more about herself.
