The first trailer for the second and final season of Star Wars Resistance has been released. We take a look at what’s in store for Kaz and his friends.
Get ready for more galactic hi-jinks as Kazuda Xiono and the rest of the cast of Star Wars Resistance return for the show’s second and final season this fall. Disney has released the trailer (below) for the second season and it looks set to be as epic and hilarious as its predecessor.
The animated series is set during the events of the new Star Wars trilogy, and follows young pilot Kaz who is on a secret spy mission from Poe Dameron himself. The second season of Star Wars Resistance will continue the story of Kaz and the Colossus, now lost in space after an attack by the First Order. From the trailer, it looks like the crew of the Colossus are desperate to survive on diminishing rations and turn to new allies for help.
In the meantime, the First Order are still after the Colossus and intent on terrorizing the galaxy, and they will stop at nothing to get their way. With former Team Fireball member, Tam Ryvora, having pledged allegiance to the First Order, the villains have a leg up in this battle.

According to Deadline, the official synopsis of the season says:
"Kaz and the team continue to fight against the threat of the First Order, culminating in an epic series finale. The story picks up after a harrowing escape from the First Order, as the Colossus and all its residents find themselves lost in space, pursued by Agent Tierny and Commander Pyre…meanwhile, Tam grapples with her future and where her true allegiance lies, with her friends or the First Order. The thrilling final season will showcase how the unlikeliest of heroes can help spark hope across the galaxy."
Though most of the first season was little more than a series of unfortunate events for Kaz, the final episodes took a dark turn as the First Order’s actions in Star Wars: The Force Awakens made a devastating impact on the show’s characters. Then, Tam chose to leave her friends behind to start anew with the Order, and the season two trailer seems to suggest she is still coming to terms with that decision.
The first season of Star Wars Resistance was purposefully bright and hilarious, with Christopher Sean’s Kaz a delightful everyman hero who won viewers over with his bumbling charm. Kaz fit right in with the galaxy far, far away, and was ably supported by a diverse cast of eccentric characters like Suzie McGrath’s Tam, Scott Lawrence’s Jarek Yeager, Josh Brener’s Neeku Vozo, Donald Faison’s Hype Fazon, and Myrna Velasco’s Torra Doza. The season also included guest voice actors from the film trilogy with Oscar Isaac resuming his duties as Poe Dameron and Gwendoline Christie returning as Captain Phasma.
The new season adds celebrity guest stars Joe Manganiello as Ax Tagrin, Daveed Diggs as Norath Kev and Lucy Lawless as the Aeosian Queen. The second season trailer also teases Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren playing a role on the show.
While it makes sense that the show will end with the conclusion of the new trilogy (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker releases this December), it’s bittersweet to bid farewell to this show – Star Wars Resistance didn’t come with much hype and hasn’t captivated Star Wars fans quite like Star Wars: Clone Wars, but there was an earnest authenticity to the show that was refreshing. It was a beacon of happiness in a cinematic landscape buried in darkness, and the storylines had a down-to-earth feel to them, much like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Despite the terrifying situation Kaz and team find themselves in during the second season, it’s a pleasure to see that the showrunners haven’t eschewed the need for hilarity. The trailer promises lots of darkness, but also many more gags as well.
Star Wars Resistance airs its second and final season on Oct. 6, only on the Disney Channel.
