Young Justice: Outsiders season 3, episode 24 recap: Into the Breach
By Monita Mohan
Victor Stone joins the Outsiders to locate Halo in the first part of the Young Justice: Outsiders finale. Will they find her before Granny Goodness gets to them?
In part one of the Young Justice: Outsiders season finale, the Outsiders are on the hunt for Violet/ Halo, who has become the last ingredient of the anti-life equation. The team tracks her to Granny Goodness’ location with Victor Stone/ Cyborg’s new abilities – he can communicate with technology as well as detect Apokoliptic tech. Vic believes the signatures he’s found in Granny’s headquarters could be Violet.
Fighting Granny Goodness
When the team gets there though, they fall straight through a breach and into the dreaded ghost dimension. While the Outsiders are incapacitated, Eldorado teleports from their jet to come and rescue them, starting with Blue Beetle whose exoskeleton switched off and left him particularly vulnerable.

Despite Eldorado’s efforts, he is unable to escape the dimension. Just when there’s no hope left, Garfield Logan/Beast Boy is confronted by Granny. She offers to fight him in exchange for his friends’ lives. Gar puts up a valiant fight, but Granny’s superior strength seems to best his changeling abilities at every turn.
The rest of the Outsiders are out for the count, but Vic is able to connect with Overlord, the minute robot controlling the ghost dimension, and giving Granny her power. Vic is able to overcome Overlord, thus saving the team and rescuing Garfield from a brutal pummeling.
With Granny down, and the team recovered, Vic and Blue Beetle destroy the Apokoliptic tech Granny possessed. But what should be a victory turns into a disaster.
Back at The Orphanage
With the tech gone, Granny disappears through a portal. With no trace of Halo, Vic follows Granny in the hopes that she leads him to his teammate. The rest of the Outsiders are left on Earth facing defeat.
Vic arrives at The Orphanage to witness Earth’s Gretchen Goode merge with Granny Goodness. Apparently, Apokoliptic tech allowed her to duplicate herself in some way. I thought she was just teleporting, but I did wonder how she changed her clothes so fast. Now we know there were two of them all along.
As Granny recuperates, Vic sees Halo being controlled by the motherbox and using her power to subdue the Justice League and the rest of Young Justice. With a precisely aimed shot, Vic frees Violet from the hold of the motherbox. Realizing her friends, and especially Brion, are in grave danger, Violet activates rainbow powers to heal them.
Violet, Vic and the rest of the superheroes destroy Granny’s machine and the real version of Overlord. Granny is incensed, claiming the worst is yet to come, but the heroes are unphased. Superboy informs Granny that they found her because of Vandal Savage; and in a rage, Granny teleports away to report to Darkseid of Savage’s betrayal.
The team returns to Outsiders headquarters with good news – the Justice League have rescued hundreds of meta-teens and they’re headed to Earth. Since Vic was the savior of the day, he is invited to join the Outsiders. After some thought, Vic accepts and takes on his official mantle as Cyborg. Booyah!
Throughout this episode, Lex Luthor was seen tracking the tags #WeAreAllOutsiders and #InfinityInc. Turns out, he’s made his own team of superheroes, but the criminals they’re catching are being inserted with a control chip and a meta-dampening collar. By the end of this Young Justice: Outsiders episode, Infinity Inc are out-trending the Outsiders.
