From Jamaica to East London, it’s war in Netflix’s Top Boy trailer
Aubrey “Drake” Graham and Netflix saved Channel 4’s Top Boy, now it has a confirmed air date. And the new trailer promises war from Jamaica to East London.
If you haven’t seen the first two seasons of Top Boy, then go and watch them now! Seriously. If that isn’t possible, then may I warn you of spoilers ahead. If you have seen those, then please watch this brand new trailer courtesy of Deadline.
During the first season of Top Boy – which premiered on Channel 4, as well as its second installment – we got to intimately know DuShane, Sully, their gang of rivals and own crew. Along with a host of other impeccably acted and well-crafted supporting characters; many of whom were excellent, vividly colourful portrayals of non-gangsters. Or to use the terminology of the environment: civilians.
Yet it is the fictional Summer House Estate drugs firm – imagined by Ashley Walters’ deft transformation into DuShane – which is the focal point of the television show. In the second season, more organised and brutal Albanian criminals – echoing actual London gangland – infiltrate the British capital’s underworld scene and takeover Summer House’s line and all its effective subsidiaries; crack dens etcetera.

Top Boy season three trailer
Now, I didn’t see anyone representing what we would imagine the Albanian gangsters to look like. So maybe new player Jamie has seized their racket. That would certainly certify him in that world. We learn of a contact or “connect” between DuShane and Jamaican drug dealers.
Heroin, cocaine and cannabis is apparently broken down and sold again by the latter and his accessory Sully, who is freshly released from prison. Though we also witness the typically touching, compassionate side of the latest tough guy, too.
There is also what appears to be the planning and execution of tit-for-tat takeover and retaliation set-ups, attacks and shootings.
The third part of the series premieres on Netflix on September 13, following a six-year hiatus.
