Why Women Kill shines in two out of three its storylines with its latest episode–any guesses as to which those are?

Why Women Kill is the type of show in which it is difficult to explain your sentiments towards it. I want to say I love it, but then sometimes, I’m not so sure. I think the best way I can describe it is that I really enjoy the 60s and 80s storylines, but I could care less for the present-day one. As much as I love Alexandria Daddario, there’s just nothing intriguing about the open marriage couple.

Starting with the 60s storyline, Beth Ann is eager to keep her husband Rob on the straight and narrow path, but he is anything but. He’s having an affair, and after Beth Ann’s neighbor/friend gives her some racy advice, she decides to take matters into her own hands. In normal circumstances, the plot of this particular story is rather offensive and misogynistic but I think we have to take a moment and realize that we’re talking about the 60s here.

Beth Ann is a devoted housewife and all she’s ever done is cater to her husband’s every need. But after learning that he’s having an affair, it’s turned her entire world upside down. And there’s nothing more Beth Ann wants than to make sure her husband realizes she’s more important.

How far is she willing to go? Getting naked at the dinner table and trying weird sex moves that land Rob in the hospital. Yup, that happened and guess what? Rob still went out to meet his side chick, April. What. A. Jerk.

Moving onto the 80s, Karl and Simone are figuring out how things are going to play out now that Simone knows that Karl is gay. Unfortunately for Simone, she learns soon after that not only did her husband lie to her about his sexual preference, but he also tried to fake a suicide attempt.

Instead of letting the whole ordeal get to her, Simone decides to finally give into her best friend’s son’s flirting. And when I say give in, I mean sleep with.

Last but not least, Why Women Kill moves forward to 2019 to the worst storyline of the three. As you know, Eli and Taylor are in an open marriage, and the most recent individual to enter into it is Jade.

Usually, they’re supposed to keep their conquests out of the house and have no emotional connection. But there is something different about Jade, aka Taylor is in love with her.

Like I said before, the 2019 plot feels pointless and like a waste of time. Not to mention, it’s such a far stretch from the 60s and 80s storyline which somehow manage to keep things in common despite being two different time periods.

Since we’re only two episodes in, I’ll wait to see how all this plays out.
