Emmys 2019: Critics disagree with fans’ majority on Game of Thrones
HBO’s Game of Thrones claimed two major triumphs at the 2019 Emmys Awards Ceremonial. Which is indeed contrary to many fans’ sentiments on the finale season.
2019’s Emmys Awards will be remembered, as Sky News put it, for “Fleabag, Game Of Thrones and Chernobyl are the night’s big winners”. All three were excellent overall – I’m sure we can all agree.
Though there has to be one big winner of the most prestigious honor, that went to Game of Thrones; despite its maligned run-in. Regardless of a record 32 nominations for the eighth installment, the majority of fans appeared to dislike the finale.
However, with the award for best show, critics seem to disagree: HBO’s marvel won Outstanding Drama for the fourth time. The final season was rushed, but still seminal in quality – it will influence for years to come.

Awards versus criticism of Game of Thrones
GoT currently has a combined rating of 9.4/10 stars from 1,589,032 people surveyed on IMDb for all seasons. According to the database, Thrones has won 352 awards from 547 nominations. Incredible. What a feat of achievement by George R.R. Martin, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Although with regards to the final edition of the show, it falls drastically in user – or ordinary member of the public – opinion. The rating, for the last ever episode, six, has a ridiculously low score of 4.2 stars out of 10. Comparatively, episode one of season one achieves the classification of nine. While the Guardian‘s Lucy Mangan thought the finale “corrects some major wrongs”. Polarising – yet brilliant is my stance point.
Peter Dinklage
Even if the final season was polarising, everyone can agree what a triumph Dinklage was in his role as Tyrion. He took home the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the unprecedented fourth occasion. Consistently, Dinklage was one of the shining lights of the show.
