Why Women Kill season 1, episode 7 recap: I Found Out What the Secret to Murder Is: Friends. Best Friends.
By Ariba Bhuvad
The 1960s storyline just got a bit complicated on this week’s episode of Why Women Kill.
Why Women Kill threw us a curveball this week in the 1960s and 1980s storyline. I wasn’t expecting it and the manner in which it was revealed was done extremely well. So, this week, let’s start with the 1960s. Beth Ann has pretty much made it so Rob is finally ready to break things off with April. He hasn’t talked to her and refuses to be in contact, and is instead focusing more on Beth Ann.
The mystery about how their daughter died is ongoing, but it’s certainly clear that whatever it was, Beth feels at fault. She recalls how Rob loved being a father, and it looks like he’s going to get that chance again. Not with Beth Ann, though. Yes, that’s right. APRIL is pregnant with his kid and the moment Beth Ann learns that everything she has so perfectly planned goes out the door.
She plans on telling Rob the truth about everything but instead takes a rather different, more horrible route. After planning a nice dinner and making drinks, she tells Rob she has something to tell him. Uh oh. But instead of coming clean about the whole April situation, she ends up lying and saying she has cancer. That was not cool, Beth Ann, not cool at all.

In the 1980s, Simone and Karl have come to a mutual understanding regarding their love lives. Simone spends her time with Tommy, while Karl has Hector. Unfortunately, Tommy’s mother is growing suspicious of his behavior and is convinced that he’s involved in drugs. Why Women Kill did a good job with this storyline in this episode because of the complication of it all.
After learning that Tommy’s mother is about to read through his diary, Simone rushes over to distract her. The only thing she can think of is to tell her that Karl is gay. I mean, they’re going to get caught sooner or later, right?
Because he wants to keep Simone happy, Tommy has been cashing in his savings bond and buying her presents, and now he wants them to go away to Europe for the summer, and Simone is considering it!
But there’s just one slight problem. Karl is sick and likely diagnosed with HIV/AIDs based on the note Hector leaves for him. Given that it’s the 1980s, this seems like a very plausible scenario. It’s too bad Karl doesn’t tell Simone, though.

And now onto the boring storyline of Why Women Kill. I know I say this in every recap, but I’m so over them. Taylor has been on edge ever since she heard Eli’s agent call Jade his muse. To make matters worse, Eli is using a lot again. So you can imagine the hell that broke loose when Taylor finally discovered Eli has been heading down that same path.
She decides to leave the house and expects Jade to go with her, but she doesn’t. Ouch, that has got to hurt. But then again, Taylor created this situation.
As we approach the end of the season, I’m really curious who is going to end up dying, and who is going to kill them. Are these three leading women really going to be the ones to do it? How will it go down? Ah, I need answers!
